Amsterdam, July '03. Some nice buildings along a canal. My guess is that the heavy shutters keep out the sun on hot days. Another nice thing about all these buildings is that they each had a pulley on the top floor to help bring heavy, large things upstairs with a rope. I was hoping to see some piano-hoisting or at least a safe, but no, it probably would've just fallen on an old lady anyway.
